School District Employees Required to Take Non-Academic Training

 

Under Delaware Code, Title 14, Chapter 41, Section 4162 (a), all school district employees must complete 12.5 hours of non-academic training every three years.  This requirement applies to all individuals, including teachers, school administrators, school support personnel, instructional aides, nurses, school counselors, coaches, custodial staff, and nutrition staff, hired by a school district or charter school or a program established under Chapter 16 of this title, who provide services to students on a regular, ongoing basis.  The programs and number of hours required are contained in the chart below.

According to the Code, the 12.5 hours of training must occur during the employee work day. If you are not provided this opportunity during the work day, please notify your AEA building representative or an AEA Executive Board member as soon as possible.
